Rachael Widener, Ph.D.

Rachael Widener is currently an Alliance Manager in the Business Development & Licensing division of Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health (BIAH). In her role, she identifies, develops and nurtures long-term value-creating relationships designed to enable and/or accelerate the achievement of strategic objectives of the partnership. Prior to joining BIAH, Rachael held the position of Senior Licensing Manager at the University of Georgia (UGA), specializing in technologies in the life sciences space. As a licensing manager, she helped to evaluate technologies developed by faculty for both patentability and commercial potential, coordinated patent prosecution for these inventions and negotiated relevant licensing agreements to transition the technology from the university to the marketplace. Rachael received her B.S. in Medical Microbiology & Immunology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases at the National Institutes of Health.
