The Biomedical Research Institute (BRI) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit company whose mission is to develop improved diagnostic methods in areas where schistosomiasis is a public health burden.

We are currently funded to supply schistosomiasis life cycle reagents to research laboratories in the U.S. and abroad, with support from the National Institutes of Health. In addition, NIH grant funding and endowment funds for the research laboratory of Dr. Michael Hsieh support our research. In order to accelerate progress we are reaching out to the public for donations to support our research and development work.

In addition to the substantial health burdens associated with the disease, especially in children and young adults, schistosomiasis places a severe strain on primary health care facilities and limits the overall economic development of an afflicted region. Clearly, further research efforts are essential for reducing the impact of this helminthic infection as a public health menace
