Mr. Ward earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources Management from the College of Agriculture at the University of Maryland in College Park. He was employed initially in 1984 as a Laboratory Technician in the Repository Department at Biomedical Research Institute. In 1988 he was promoted and began managing several large NIH repository storage contracts. These studies collected over 4 million specimens. In December 1999 he designed and implemented the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) Repository and soon thereafter in early 2002 the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials (IMPAACT) Repository. These two contracts now contain more than 5 million specimens in storage. He currently serves as BRI’s Repository Manager and now manages more than 6 million specimens collectively stored at the Institute.
