Hi All! It’s been a few years since I’ve made a blog entry. There have been a lot of changes in the lab:
- We moved from California to Maryland
- Old lab members have left, new ones have come
- We got an R01!
- The Biomedical Research Institute (BRI), which houses us, the Bladder Immunology Group, is now co-led by the senior managers of BRI: Edwin Ashourian, Margaret Mentink-Kane, John Ward, and me, Michael Hsieh
Some key things remain unchanged. We remain committed to studying the bladder and its reactions to noxious stimuli (i.e., urinary tract infections, schistosomiasis, carcinogens) as a model to understand epithelial biology and infectious diseases more broadly. The lab also still likes to go out and drink beers together!
Our mission statement has been revised to better reflect our daily activities and strategic vision: “Our mission is to advance and conduct infectious disease-related research”.
Finally, if you haven’t noticed, our web site has been majorly revamped to better reflect our mission and day-to-day activities. We’ve also redesigned the web site to make it easier to navigate and locate links and documents of interest to our clients and collaborators.
We look forward to resuming the blog, and hope you’ll continue to read us!
